Lantern Stroll in the Asticou Azalea Garden;The Land & Garden Preserve held a Lantern Stroll in the Asticou Azalea Gardenin remembrance of Charles Savage who was, third generation owner of the Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor and renowned for his hospitality, was a master at creating such events. He would on special occasions light the garden with lanterns whose images reflected in the stillness of the pond and invite guests and community members to experience the beauty of the garden at night. The 2016 stroll included paper lanterns which were hung gracefully throughout the Garden illuminating the pathways, and floating lanterns were released to glide gently across the pond. Traditional Japanese koto music once again drifted through the air. Guests were be given hand-held lanterns to guide them while strolling the garden paths.
